Postdoctoral Fellowship Exit Criteria

Exit Criteria

  1. Advanced knowledge of the legal basis of forensic evaluation and the basic principles of the legal system.
  2. Advanced knowledge of the ethical basis of forensic psychology consistent with the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychologists and the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Psychologists.
  3. Advanced knowledge of forensic mental health assessment methods, including knowledge of specialized forensic assessment instruments and the application, limitations, integration, and interpretation of this information.
  4. Advanced knowledge of forensic methodologies and principles, including the principles of forensic mental health assessment (FMHA).
  5. Advanced knowledge of the applications of mental health treatment modalities to forensic populations.
  6. Advanced knowledge of forensic research resources, and demonstrated advanced ability to use and contribute to these resources via, e.g., submission of a study or literature review for publication and/or professional presentation, submission of a grant proposal or outcome assessment.
  7. Advanced ability to effectively communicate in forensic settings, including knowledge related the rules, procedures, and techniques of expert witness testimony.
  8. Advanced forensic report writing skills.
  9. Advanced knowledge of applications of forensic psychology to the military setting.
  10. Demonstrated cultural competency in forensic assessment, treatment, and consultation.
  11. Advanced skills in providing forensic psychological services independently.
  12. Formal overall evaluation of competency in exit criteria A through H and in the Mock Diplomate Examination.
  13. Eligibility for board certification in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and American Board of Forensic Psychology.
  14. Successful completion of all clinical case requirements, administrative and teaching requirements, and participation in required didactic activities.
