Diabetes Institute

As a leader in military health care for persons with diabetes, the Diabetes Institute (DI) provides cutting edge diabetes care, education, and research. Endocrinologists and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) provide individualized and comprehensive care to adults with diabetes at WRNMMC Bethesda, Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and the Family Health Centers in Fairfax and Woodbridge, VA.

Diabetes education is an essential component of effective diabetes management. The diabetes self management education (DSME) programs are taught by nurses, NPs, dietitians, psychologists, and exercise physiologists who specialize in diabetes and want to help you achieve your very best. Our DSME programs are the only programs at WRNMMC that are recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for meeting the Standards of Care for Diabetes Education.

The DI has a robust and nationally recognized research program that focuses on using technology to help improve diabetes management.
