Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship

The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship of the National Capital Consortium has been training fellows in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology for over 25 years. It is a unique training program that takes full advantage of the numerous resources available in the National Capital Area. Approximately one-third of the curriculum is devoted to clinical duties with the remaining time devoted to research activities. The majority of the clinical experience is at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Additional clinical rotations take place at Children’s National Medical Center and Inova Fairfax Children's Hospital. Research opportunities abound in the National Capital Area. Fellows are matched with a research mentor early in the course of their fellowship. Research facilities utilized by the program include the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. The diversity of clinical and scholarly experience is designed to produce an exceptional academic hematologist-oncologist ready to fulfill the unique requirements of military, government and civilian practice.
