Training Site
The National Capital Consortium (NCC) is the agreement among Navy, the Army, and the Air force in the National Capital Region (NCR and other facilities working under a larger umbrella with a common vision. All directives are taken from NCC. The campus of the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda (WRNMMCB) is home to numerous outpatient clinics and has approximately 250-350 inpatient acute care beds.
Mission
The mission of the NCC is to educate physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who care for soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines of all ages and their families. The NCC will provide a scholarly environment and is dedicated to excellence in both education and healthcare etc. The NCC is dedicated to instilling in these trainees the ethical values and standards expected of those devoting their lives to public service.
The National Capital Consortium, by supplying leadership and resources, complies with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional Requirements and ensures that Consortium-sponsored programs comply with ACGME program requirements. All medical, dental, and pharmacy residency programs operate under the authority and control of the Consortium. The Consortium regularly assesses the quality of its educational programs
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC)
The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is an integrated tri-service two-campus military medicine system, a unique combination of the flagship of navy medicine, the premier army medicine and the air force medicine. WRNMMC North Campus in Bethesda, Maryland is a tertiary care, university affiliated teaching hospital and referral facility. We are located directly across the street the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Library of Medicine. WRNMMC will provide a world-class medical care for our wounded warriors, retired military personnel and their dependents, as well as active duty military personnel and their independents. Challenges for treating these patients encompass most medical specialties: traumatic brain injuries, trauma surgery, rehabilitation, medical and geriatric population, and pediatric and neonatal care. These provide great opportunities for training and learning.
