The term “perinatal” describes a timeframe that includes immediately before and after birth, usually a number of weeks as determined by the healthcare needs of both mother and baby. The Joint Commission and National Quality Forum use a set of five evidence-based Perinatal Care (PC) measures to help evaluate the performance of healthcare facilities during this important time.
Keeping track of our performance in these areas helps us to continuously improve the quality of care we provide our patients and their families. PC measures include:
- Antenatal Steroids
- Bloodstream Infections in Newborns
- Cesarean Section
- Elective Delivery
- Exclusive Breast Milk Feedings
