Department of Research Programs

The mission of the Department of Research Programs (DRP) is to facilitate research and ensure that all regulatory standards are met at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The DRP's protocol navigators, biostatisticians, human protections administrators, business cell staff, and leadership work in a coordinated effort to help researchers.

The DRP staff supports the work of IRB's, expedites the review and approval of research protocols, determines whether or not research involves WRNMMC, and endorses research projects that will be reviewed by an external institution review board. Also, the DRP's Center for Nursing Science & Clinical Inquiry provides support for research and consultations for evidence-based practice projects . Moreover, the DRP houses a state-of-the-art biomedical research laboratory capable of supporting a wide range of clinical laboratory studies.
