Peer Connect training available at Walter Reed
Peer Connect is a confidential peer-to-peer support program at Walter Reed that helps military and civilian personnel navigate difficult conversations, including those involving medical errors and workplace stress. The program is available to all team members upon request, facilitated by a select group of leaders who have volunteered to serve as peer support mentors, offering their time, empathetic ears, and wisdom.

Research focused on enhancing the care and readiness of service members and their families again led the way in this year’s poster competition, held annually during May by the Department of Research Programs (DRP) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Walter Reed pediatric fellow earns national recognition for research
U.S. Air Force Maj. (Dr.) Daniel Hammond, a third-year Pediatric Endocrinology fellow at Walter Reed, recently received multiple competitive awards for his efforts to enhance care for adolescents with diabetes transitioning to care in adult medicine.

Walter Reed recognizes nursing excellence
Hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) in 2006 while on his third combat tour in Afghanistan, U.S. Army Col. Kenneth Dwyer said, “I am only here today because of the dedication, excellence, and commitment of practitioners of military medicine, and especially, nurses.”
