Mother and Infant Care Center (MICC)
Full Range of Birthing Services for Mom and Baby
Birth is life's greatest miracle. Creating a positive and comfortable experience for you and your family is very important to us. Our services are designed around the concept of “Family Centered-Care.” This means we recognize the importance of family support, participation, and choice throughout the birthing process: before, during, and after your baby is born.
The MICC is a hallmark of WRNMMC’s commitment to safe quality care and a leading example of advanced childbirth health care by incorporating the most modern practices in childbirth philosophy, technology, and design.
Peace of Mind
We are one of the largest birthing centers in the Military Health System, and deliver approximately 1,200 babies each year. We are also the referral center for high-risk pregnancies and complicated deliveries for the Military Health System; serving military beneficiaries from all over the world. Our center is fully integrated with advanced medical technology to safely handle complicated pregnancies and deliveries.
Our 23-room suite is broken up into eight labor rooms and 15 post-partum rooms. We also have a three-bed triage room, and two operating rooms, all next to a 25-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The Start of Something Beautiful
Labor, delivery, and recovery take place in specially-designed private birthing rooms with warm, home-like environments, featuring full bathrooms, birthing beds, televisions, pullout sofas, and telephones. Operating rooms with the latest medical equipment are conveniently located for cesarean deliveries when needed.
After delivery, you and your family are provided with a private room on the Couplet Care Unit where a specialty nurse cares for you and your baby. These rooms feature the above amenities plus a state-of-the-art anti-infant-abduction system.
The MICC also offers:
- Priority-parking passes for new and expectant mothers
- Lactation (breast-feeding) consultation and education sessions
- Certified Nurse Midwife Program
- Antepartum (before delivery) testing with Level III Ultrasound (advanced anatomical detail) and other state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures
- Room service and "special delivery" meals
