Warrior Family Coordination Cell

The Warrior Family Coordination Cell (WFCC) provides comprehensive non-medical support for Wounded, Ill, and Injured (WII) service members and their families at Walter Reed. It coordinates efforts between Walter Reed, the military services, government entities, and civilian organizations to optimize the health, safety, and readiness of our Nation’s heroes and successfully reintegrate them back into society after serious injury or illness.

The Operations Section of the WFCC provides event and donation coordination to provide opportunities for WII service members to enjoy wholesome activities on and off NASB to aid in their recovery.

Event Information

Staffing of Proffered Events

We encourage patient independence to  achieve rehabilitation and reintegration goals. Therefore, assignment of a medical or staff attendant is the exception, not the rule, and assignment of an attendant requires senior leadership approval. If an attendant is deemed necessary, Walter Reed will assign an available attendant at the government’s expense.

Base Access

If you require base access for an event coordinated through the WFCC, please email:  dha.bethesda.walter-reed-med-ctr.mbx.wfcc@health.mil or call 855-360-HERO(4376). For more information, visit the Planning Your Visit page.

Transportation

Joint Ethics Regulation (JER), DoD 5500.7-R, prohibits Walter Reed from providing government transportation or chartering non-government transportation with appropriated funds. Walter Reed may use other limited gift funds to charter non-government transportation when transportation is not provided by the donor if:

  • Gift funds are available
  • The event is within 50 miles of Walter Reed
  • At least 10 WII and/or non-WII service members participate
  • The cost of transportation does not exceed fair market value of the gift.
