Urologic Oncology
Urologic Oncology is a subspecialty of Urology that focuses on the research and treatment of cancers affecting the urinary system and male reproductive organs. Urologic cancers include cancer of the bladder, kidney, and prostate. The earlier a urological cancer is detected, the greater the chance of successful treatment.
The Urologic Oncology Service of the Murtha Cancer Center provides comprehensive care for all urologic cancers. Our team consists of highly-skilled surgeons and clinical staff members who use up-to-date, state-of-the-art procedures to treat your cancer, including minimally invasive surgery. We provide you with the highest quality of care and compassionate services available.
Multidisciplinary Assessments and Recommendations
Our team approach allows you to have the broadest input on your specific condition and treatment.
Minimally Invasive and Robotic (da Vinci®) Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery significantly reduces the required size of any surgical incision. The da Vinci® Surgical System improves your surgeon’s vision with a three-dimensional high-definition monitor. The tiny robotic instruments on the da Vinci® system also improve your surgeon’s precision and dexterity. The robotic system is completely controlled by your surgeon. Patients who undergo minimally invasive surgery usually recover more quickly and with less discomfort than with conventional surgery.
