Posted January 27, 2023: Naval Support Activity Bethesda will participate in the annual Citadel Shield – Solid Curtain exercises February 6-17, 2023. Some exercises may affect traffic in and around the installation. The exercises will not affect patient care, and all WRNMMC services will operate as normal. Temporary Closure of WRNMMC Pharmacies

Posted January 23, 2023: All outpatient pharmacies at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center will be closed starting Saturday, February 18th through Monday, February 20th for software upgrades and the observance of Presidents’ Day. Notice Regarding National Shortage of Adderall IR

9 NOV 2022: On October 12, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a shortage of the IR formulation of amphetamine mixed salts, commonly referred to by the brand name Adderall or Adderall IR.  Amphetamine mixed salts, including Adderall, are FDA-approved for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. What Parents Need to Know About RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus)

Posted 28 OCT 2022: Nearly all children are exposed to RSV by the time they are 2 years old. Most of the time, RSV will cause a mild, cold-like illness that resolves within 7-14 days. However, some children have a higher risk of severe or longer illness. Learn more>>

Annual Flu Vaccination Campaign

Updated 22 DEC 2022: Flu vaccines for ages 6 months and older are available in the Allergy and Immunology Clinic in the America Zone, Building 19, Mon-Fri, 8am - 4pm. No Appointment Necessary. However, due to high demand, we recommend calling ahead to ensure availability of the vaccine. Flu vaccine information is available Mon-Fri, 8am - 4pm at 301-295-4511, Opt. 3. Learn more>>

The CSA is Moving!

Posted 3 OCT 2022: Beginning Thursday Oct. 6 and until further notice, the Centralized Screening Area (CSA) will relocate to the curtained area in front of General Surgery on the first floor of Building 9, Arrowhead Zone. Hours of operation for the CSA are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Testing remains available for symptomatic patients on a walk-in basis. For more details about the CSA, click here>>

Pediatric Pharmacy Closure

Posted 25 MAY 2022: Starting June 6, the Pediatric Pharmacy will be closed until further notice as we work to rebalance our staffing operations. During this closure, pediatric prescriptions can be processed and picked-up at either the America Pharmacy or the Arrowhead Pharmacy. If you have any questions please call the Pharmacy Call Center at 301-295-2123. Notice Regarding Baby Formula

Updated 20 MAY 2022: The Defense Health Agency is always concerned about the health, wellness and safety of all our beneficiaries. Currently during this infant formula shortage our military pediatricians are discussing with parents the best recommendations to fulfill their baby’s health and nutrition needs.  And while TRICARE covers formulas and vitamins for infants with metabolic disorders, TRICARE does not cover regular baby formula for otherwise-healthy infants. TRICARE also does not directly ship baby formula to beneficiaries. Parents with children who have a medical need for specialized formula should work with their pediatrician, Primary Care Manager (PCM) or specialist to identify medically appropriate and safe feeding alternatives in the case that the formula they need is unavailable. NEW Pharmacy Optimization!

Posted 30 MARCH 2022: To reduce wait-times in our pharmacies, we’re adjusting operations to better spread pharmacy services across all four locations.

Starting June 6, we will end same-day refills at all pharmacy locations. Additionally, all NEW prescriptions will only be processed at the Arrowhead Pharmacy or the America Pharmacy. Due to this change, all REFILL prescriptions will only be available for pick-up at the Drive-Thru Pick-Up or the Navy Exchange. Learn more>>

Mask Policy

Posted 09 March 2022: Masks are required to enter Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) and are expected to be worn at all times, even if you are fully vaccinated or boosted, and regardless of installation or county guidance. Learn more>>

WRNMMC Shuttle Services End February 28, 2022

Posted 11 FEB 2022: WRNMMC shuttle services will permanently conclude on February 28, 2022, due to low patient ridership. Patient parking areas that are close to outpatient clinics and pharmacies continue to be available, including America Garage, Arrowhead Garage and 85T Parking Lot. Learn more>>

Deployment of WRNMMC Providers

UPDATED 07 FEB 2022: In response to spiking COVID-19 cases across the country, the Pentagon is mobilizing 1,000 service members to assist in locations where hospitals are overwhelmed due to staffing shortages. The mobilizations will likely last until the end of April, and a number of mobilized personnel are coming from our staff. Learn more about how these deployments may affect you.>> 

Designated Patient Entrances

Effective 16 August 21: Due to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, we are adjusting our entrances to the main medical center complex (Buildings 1-10, and 19) for the health and safety of our staff and beneficiaries. Learn more>>

CPAP, BiPAP, and Ventilator Recall Notification

On June 14, 2021, Philips Respironics initiated a voluntary recall for specific continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP), and mechanical ventilator devices due to potential health risks associated with deterioration of internal sound abatement foam.
