A Letter From the Director
I would like to welcome all of you to the John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda.
The Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda (MCC) was created by merging the three military service medical facilities in the National Capital Region: National Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and Malcolm Grow Medical Center. The integration of these facilities along with their nationally-recognized healthcare expertise, care delivery and research has brought us to this exciting juncture in military medical health care. It has given us a unique opportunity to provide you, our beneficiaries, with the most advanced full-spectrum cancer care available.
The over 330 board-certified oncologist and professional clinical and support staff are highly specialized in all aspects of cancer care - from first diagnosis, through therapy and follow up care, to survivorship. We have enhanced our capabilities by teaming with the Uniformed Service University and the National Cancer Institute to provide excellent state-of-the-science cancer care.
The Murtha Cancer Center, my colleagues and I stand by to provide you, our military beneficiaries, with exceptional cancer care. Please be assured that we will use every resource available to meet the challenges of caring for you.
