Getting Care

Patient Safety Office

The Patient Safety Office identifies improvement opportunities in medical systems and processes. It also assists in implementing effective actions to avoid patient harm and improve patient safety and healthcare quality throughout Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Patient Safety is Everyone's Responsibility

At any point, any of us can become a patient. So it's important for everyone to be familiar with everyday practices that can improve patient safety.

Here are some tips for a safer health care experience:
  • Become a more informed health care consumer.
  • Keep track of your history.
  • Work with your doctor and other health care professionals as a team.
  • Involve a family member or friend in your care.
  • Follow the treatment plan agreed upon by you and your doctor.
Everyone has a role in patient safety, and everyone can benefit from its successes.
