By Vernishia R. Vaughn, WRNMMC Command Communications

Three distinguished Walter Reed Air Force team members were announced as recipients of the 2023 Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) Medical Service Awards.

The ADFW Medical Service Awards honors Airmen who have demonstrated the highest performance standards and have significantly contributed to the mission execution of the Air Force Medical Service and the Defense Health Agency.

In a memo, the Commander of the Air Force District of Washington and the 320th Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Force Maj. Gen. Daniel Devoe stated: "The Airmen and teams have demonstrated the highest standards of performance in executing the vital missions of the Air Force Medical Service and the Defense Health Agency that underpins our national defense."

The Award Recipients

Senior Master Sgt. Erin W. Barger was awarded the AFDW Medical Service Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Award.

Air Force Maj. Mary A. Hoffman and Air Force Capt. Sean D. O'Hollearn received the AFDW Clinical Excellence in Nursing Awards as field and company grade officers, respectively.

Upon hearing the news, Army Col. Wendy Woodall, director for nursing and chief nursing officer, shared, "We are incredibly proud of the dedication, commitment, and professionalism consistently shown by our Air Force team members." said Woodall.

"To have three of our own recognized in this way speaks volumes about the work they do here at Walter Reed."

Following this recognition, the three Airmen and other ADFW Medical Service Awards recipients will compete at the next level for the 2023 Air Force Medical Service Awards.

In closing, Devoe shared, "These Airmen represent the very best in our Air Force and stand out among a large and talented team of AFDW medical professionals who are privileged to support our missions across the globe."
