We’re Renovating Mid-September!
The America Pharmacy will be temporarily closed during a three-week renovation project. But don’t worry – we’ll shift operations during the closure to help meet your needs with as little disruption as possible. We’ll share more information as we get closer to the start date.
Pharmacy
Pharmacy services are some of the most popular benefits for our patients. Prescription medications may be obtained at our pharmacies at no cost. Beneficiaries may also receive medications using
TRICARE Home Delivery or a TRICARE Network Pharmacy.
Pharmacy Operations
- All NEW prescriptions must be processed at either the America Pharmacy or Arrowhead Pharmacy.
-
Skip the line with Q-Anywhere to activate new prescriptions for same-day pick-up at Walter Reed! To use this service, please use our secure link and follow the prompts. Alternatively, you may text "Get in Line" to 833-201-9306. Learn more>>
- All REFILL prescriptions must be picked up at the Drive-Thru Pick-Up, Navy Exchange, or 24/7 ScriptCenter. Same-day refills are not permitted.
Safety
To ensure accurate dispensing of medication, we use an automated robotic system to fill prescriptions. This technology guides the pharmacy staff at each step in the prescription filling process, minimizing the potential for human error. Its bar code technology also helps to reduce wait times.
Efficiency
Our pharmacies process approximately 65,000 prescriptions each month. Due to the high volume of pharmacy visitors, we recommend beneficiaries become familiar with our procedures and routines. Simple measures such as using the automated call-in refill service, taking the appropriate ticket(s) at the pharmacy, and having the patient's identification card readily available will minimize delays and keep operations moving as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Electronic Prescribing (eRx)
We participate in eRx, a safe and secure method that eliminates bringing handwritten prescriptions to the pharmacy. With eRx, civilian providers can electronically transmit prescriptions to our pharmacy at DoDWalterReedNEXePhcy/NCDP 2138407/NPI#1184030223.
