Murtha Cancer Center

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center has earned six accreditations across all aspects of our cancer center. We have the highest level of accreditation from the Commission on Cancer, as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Center, which was recently renewed for the maximum number of years a cancer center can achieve. We also recently received a full accreditation for the next 3 years (maximum achievable) without deficiencies from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The NAPBC Site Surveyor said, "This is a superlative breast center, an incredibly well-organized military based hospital with marriage of completely patient centered approach, top notch specialists, adherence to evidence based guidelines, combined with on-site breast cancer research center. On top of all that, their team members are devoted, proud of their accomplishments, enthusiastic about their work, and truly delightful and personable group! 5 Star facility - the best I have surveyed to date."

The Murtha Cancer Center is also accredited by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT); holds a CAP Biorepository Accreditation; is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology; and is a Testicular and Germ Cell Cancer Center of Excellence. We are proud to be the only DOD medical center with all six of these accreditations which confirms the exemplary quality of care given to all our patients as we remain focused on maintaining and sustaining the readiness of our active-duty service members through our world-class cancer prevention, screening, and treatment programs. Our Cancer Center is a modern, patient-centric, multi-service military health care facility. Its comprehensive core of military and civilian oncologists and other cancer-trained clinicians and researchers provide multidisciplinary cancer-care delivery and patient and family support services. As the only DOD Cancer Center of Excellence in the Military Health System, we offer access to cutting-edge cancer diagnostic and treatment technologies. Our world-class care is augmented by a strong core of translational research to facilitate optimal access to evidence-based clinical practices and high-priority clinical cancer trials.
