Saddle up for school: Walter Reed’s pediatric clinics host school physical rodeos
BETHESDA, Md. — Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s pediatric clinics are going above and beyond to help military families prepare for their kids’ return to school. As parents and students rush to complete their to-do lists — buying clothes and supplies or packing for college — making time to schedule required school physicals can be a challenge. To do their part in helping families get ready, Walter Reed is scheduling a series of “school physical rodeos” in August to alleviate some of the burden.

BETHESDA, Md. — On April 27, 2026, Ashley Lilly became concerned as her 4-month-old son, Ezarus, began having trouble breathing. Her husband, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Nicholas Lilly, was deployed to Texas for training and she was taking care of their five sons at their Maryland home. Lilly’s first thought was to get Ezarus to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the hospital where he was born. She felt his condition was becoming too severe to risk the trip, however, so she took him to a hospital that was closer to their home.
Walter Reed tests innovative brain diagnostic system for enhanced patient care

BETHESDA, Md. — An air quality alert is in effect across the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas, including Montgomery County, as smoke from Canadian wildfires drifts across the region, pushing pollution to levels considered unhealthy for everyone, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the Maryland Department of the Environment. As of Friday afternoon, the alert had reached Code Purple, meaning very unhealthy.

BETHESDA, Md. — In June, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) once again led the way by becoming the nation’s first point-of-care facility to receive premarket clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a patient-specific implant. Designed by Dr. Peter Liacouras, director of services for Walter Reed’s 3D Medical Applications Center (3D MAC) the pioneering Titanium Cranial Plate (TCP) system reconstructs complex cranial and facial defects resulting from trauma, disease or cancer.
