Walter Reed Clinic Hosts Suicide Awareness ‘Honor Walk’ In Hospital Labyrinth

The Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Clinic at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center recently hosted a suicide awareness “honor walk” in the rose garden labyrinth between WRNMMC’s Buildings 3 and 5. The walk honored “those we have lost, and [for others to] gain a sense of healing and strength through reflection and meditation,” stated organizers for the event, Army Maj. Josue Nunez and Army Capt. Michelle Worsley, both of the Child and Family Social Work Fellowship Program at WRNMMC.

Murtha Cancer Center Hosts 2022 Breast Cancer Summit

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) hosted its 2022 Breast Cancer Summit virtually Oct. 26. The summit is held annually during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month began in 1985 as a collaborative effort between several organizations to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research, as well as increase early detection of the disease by encouraging women to have mammograms.

How would Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), the flagship of military medicine, respond if a multi-vehicle accident resulting in numerous mass casualties occurred on the Capital Beltway near the facility? WRNMMC’s Emergency Management and hospital staff tested the medical center’s readiness posture for such an event, or anything similar, during a mass casualty (MASCAL) exercise, also known as a Code Green exercise, Nov. 3.
