Defense Health Agency's Sustainability Initiative Thrives at Walter Reed
WRNMMC, Bethesda, Md. — On a picturesque fall day on Walter Reed’s campus, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen run laps around the track encircling a serene pond in front of the iconic tower designed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Meanwhile, patients, accompanied by their caretakers, stroll through the hospital grounds, embarking on a journey toward improved health and well-being. As stewards of this historic campus, stakeholders connected with the Defense Health Agency’s Sustainability Initiative meet periodically to develop plans to preserve historic buildings on base while building new, state-of-the-art facilities to advance medical care for our nation’s service members.

Walter Reed Hearing Scientist Selected as a 2023 Presidential Rank Award Winner
FALLS CHURCH, Virginia — FALLS CHURCH, Virginia – The Defense Health Agency (DHA) announced today that Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s (WRNMMC) Dr. Douglas S. Brungart has been recognized as a recipient of the 2023 Presidential Rank Award (PRA), one of the most prestigious awards in Federal government service. The award recognizes the important contributions of public servants across the federal government as determined by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

Annual Multiple Myeloma Lecture Sheds Light on Ongoing Battle Against Cancer
WRNMMC, Bethesda, Md. — Director of Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation for Multiple Myeloma and associate director for the Multiple Myeloma Clinical Research Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Dr. Clifton Mo was the guest speaker during the John P. Murtha Cancer Center’s (MCC) annual Multiple Myeloma Lecture at Walter Reed on Oct. 27. The MCC is the Department of Defense’s only Cancer Center of Excellence. The annual lecture is named for Michael Sheehan, the former assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict during the Obama administration, and coordinator for counterterrorism during the Clinton administration. He was also a distinguished chair at West Point and a terrorist analyst for NBC News.
