IBD Clinic
The Gastroenterology Service has the first dedicated service for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the Military Health Care System. We address common IBD diseases like Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis which are chronic inflammatory diseases of the bowel that present unique difficulties for patients and their families. The IBD clinic is staffed with specialized providers trained in managing patients with IBD, ensuring that the highest quality care will be delivered to our patients with this condition. They offer a complex arsenal of diagnostic and therapeutic options and use a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care by working closely with our colleagues in colorectal surgery, gastrointestinal pathology, and abdominal radiology.
Our mission is to provide complete care for the IBD patient, including:
- making the initial diagnosis
- coordinating short and long term treatment strategies
- managing long term colon cancer surveillance
- participating in potential research trials
