NCC Adult Neurology Residency

The National Capital Consortium Adult Neurology Residency is the largest in the military. The training program at WRNMMC is a very robust and strong program with a 100% board pass rate since 2005. In addition to the excellent core group of staff in our program including fellowship trained Epileptologists, Neuromuscular specialists, Sleep specialist, Neuro-ophthalmologist, Neuro-oncologist, Endovascular/Stroke Specialist, and a Neurobehaviorist, we have access to such prestigious facilities as the NIH, Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland, and Georgetown University Hospitals. WRNMMC is co-located with the Joint Pathology Center where residents will also spend time training in neuro-pathology.

We accept 3-4 Army PGY1 trainees every year with continuation on into the 3 year Neurology residency. The internship is made up of 6 blocks of Internal Medicine, 1 block Neurology, 1 block Psychiatry, 1 block ER, 1 block Pediatrics, 2 blocks in Physical medicine, and 1 block in Neuroradiology. As a combined program, WRNMMC is also home to the Navy's Neurology residency and we accept 2 Navy PGY2s per year making a total training class of 5-6 trainees per year.

Core rotations include neurology ward, neurology consult service, stroke service at 2 Joint Commission designated stroke centers, neuro-critical care in a dedicated 26 bed Neuro-critical unit, neuro-pathology, pediatric neurology, neuro-immunology, neurobehavior, movement disorders, neuro-oncology, neuro-muscular, introduction to clinical research, and epilepsy/EEG interpretation including intra-operative monitoring.

All residents have 3 dedicated electives that can be done in any sub-specialty.
