Application and Selection Process

Applicants will go through the regular application process offered by their respective service. Army applicants may apply through www.mods.army.mil/medicaleducation. The deadline for submission is generally in mid-September. Required documents will include CV, medical transcript, USMLE steps I-III results, medical license, letter of certification from command, letters of recommendation, Officer Evaluation Reports, and any Board certification results. Other requirements are listed on MODS or the equivalent resource for the other armed forces. An interview with the forensic psychiatry fellowship program director is required; the only document available to the program director at the time of the interview is the CV. Ultimate selection is determined by a board of physicians associated with the graduate medical education process. Announcements of selection are generally made near the end of the year.
